Plastic creations

I have been finding ever smaller pieces of plastic. After a particularly stormy night I couldn't believe the amount of plastic to be found. It was like someone had left a trail for me to follow. The sea had left it obviously. I wanted to crawl along the beach rather than bend down to pick up the litter every two seconds..I thought it was best not to do that...I get funny looks as it is carrying bag fulls of rubbish. I am now sorting the plastic into colours and creating mini collages. The odd shapes and colours look so gorgeous.

I took part in the celebration at Moel Famu. Thank you to you if you tied a piece of plastic to my giant cod!
It was a great day/night. I am so glad I walked the mountain and saw the wonderful fireworks. It felt really magical. It was also wonderful to hear so much welsh spoken.

Flood Risk

A huge thank you to all of you who have sent your sand bags. And thank you for your amazing ideas. I have been busy meeting lots of lovely people who are interested in the work shops.....creating things out of what we find on the beach. I am especially excited as one group will spend two days on the beach collecting too. They are a group of adults with learning difficulties, some of whom may not have been to the beach for a very long time. My studio is now set up in Holywell Art and Craft Mill. It is a beautiful building and if I feel the need for help I can pop next door and submerge myself in the Holy well. I have done this once!

As I walk along the drift line I some times hear the strangest sounds. I know it is probably sea birds but for a moment it makes me freak!!

ECHOES by Walter de la Mare
The sea laments the live long day,
Fringing its waste of sand;
Cries back the wind from the whispering shore-
No words I understand:
Yet echoes in my heart a voice,
As far as near as these -
The wind that weeps, the solemn surge of strange and lonely seas.
